On my Way…

Embarking on my Lisbon journey was undoubtedly an exhilarating experience. Unfortunately, with the influx of summer travelers and airport queues, traveling can sometimes be a hassle rather than an enjoyable experience. Due to the length of my journey, comfort had to be a priority. As the airline courier, I selected delta “first class” for my departure from San Juan and British Airways first class for my inbound flight to Lisbon. The British Airways experience began in JFK with a separate, dedicated check-in area. When greeted, my bags were checked in immediately, and I was escorted to an exclusive first class, fast-track airport security section. After going through security, I was led to the JFK first class lounge, where I enjoyed a glass of the signature Laurent Perrier Grand Siecle Champagne and a cheese board. The lounge features a restaurant area, an open lounge bar, and spacious bathrooms. At boarding, I was greeted by a very welcoming cabin crew and escorted to my window seat. Before takeoff and taxi, I was offered various glasses of champagne, an amenity kit, and pajamas for the rest of the journey. This flight features a four-course dinner and wine pairing option. After dinner, the crew politely asked me to prepare my bed, and I enjoyed restful sleep for a few hours. I was woken up by a beautiful breakfast before landing. After landing at my second stop, Heathrow, I headed towards the Heathrow Concorde Lounge, exclusive to first-class passengers. Here I took a much-needed shower and enjoyed a full breakfast before catching my third flight towards my final destination.
Takeaway: British Airways has still not lost its standard for excellence if you can afford to splurge on first class. Considering the length of the journey, it was a very comfortable travel experience overall.
