Tivoli Palacio de Seteais Hotel
18th century palace in Sintra, Portugal turned into a 5 star hotel featuring breathtaking views, great historical context and spacious rooms

Arriving at the town of Sintra, located approximately 45 minutes from Lisbon, by car, I was amazed at the panorama. Sintra is a small town on a mountain; there are only two lanes on the road. However, the view is worth this journey. Upon arrival at the hotel, I was greeted by the manager. The lobby was decorated lavishly but faithful to the time. I was assigned to room number 18, which was to my liking since it had a lot of space, the necessary amenities, and a balcony overlooking the garden. This hotel also features an outdoor swimming pool with panoramic views of the Sintra mountains. Despite this pleasant and historical environment’s tranquility, the energies vary. After my dinner at the Japanese restaurant, Midori, around 2:00 am, I witnessed some kind of paranormal activity in my room. I would not describe it as an unpleasant event but something unique. Upon waking up and joining the breakfast buffet (included in the rate), I overheard some guests commenting on a similar issue in their room the night before. This is very curious when considering a stay at Palacio de Setais. However, it should not discourage you. This property has all the necessary elements to guarantee a luxurious stay.

Takeaway: Without a doubt, this property is worthy of another second visit. Solo travelers shouldn’t be intimidated by the romantic appearance of the hotel as it is an environment for everyone, even families. Sintra is a charming town with a lot of history and mystery hidden behind the beauty of its landscape. Highly recommended.
